SERIOUS ISSUES WITH VOTING MACHINES
By Luke Hellier | November 2, 2010
UPDATE: Fox News has picked up the story.
There have been reports all over Minnesota of faulty voting machines. The Republican Party of Minnesota sent a letter to Secretary of State Mark Ritchie to secure the ballots with two election judges until new voting machines can be put in place.
These are a few examples of precincts with issues:
Plymouth Ward 3, Precinct 18
Inver Grove Heights, Precinct 4
Faribault Precinct 5
Burnsville Precinct 14
Eagan Fire Administration
Eagan Precinct 15
Mendota Heights Precinct 2
Lakeville Precinct 14
Release from State Party -
St. Paul- In a letter to Secretary of State Mark Ritchie, Republican Party of Minnesota Counsel Tony Trimble called on Ritchie to immediately address issues associated with voting machine malfunctions.
“Numerous voters have reported to the RPM that voting machines in numerous locations throughout the State of Minnesota have been malfunctioning throughout the day, namely, jamming. We also understand that the ballots that are not running through the machines are not being securely stored, because the number of jammed ballots is so voluminous that the overflow side compartments in the ballot machines are full and cannot contain the additional ballots,” the letter states.
“We request that your office take immediate action to secure the integrity and safety of these ballots and voting machines. We propose that the ballots be placed in secure envelopes that are initialed and secured by election judges of two (2) political parties until these voting machines can be repaired and/or replaced. Please also advise as to the efforts your office is taking to resolve these matters,” the letter added.

I have full confidence that Mark Ritchie will produce a fair and complete assessment of these issues, and once again deliver an accurate count of legally cast ballots.
Just like last time.

I don’t think it’s a serious problem. Sounds like it’s the same glitches that always occur with these machines. The problems are temporary and always get resolved. But that would never stop Sutton from making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Just like last time.
Not quite, moonbat dambroom; Franken doesn’t need the votes this year.

Why is it that leftists are never concerned about voting irregularities?
Because they are always the ones orchestrating them.

Repubs need to win big or else the election will continue until the DFL achieves the desired vote count.

WTF?
Are you people frickin nuts? It’s not a serious problem?
Vote fraud is a HUGE problem. Here are the solutions:
1. Get rid of “early voting.”
2. Everyone gets a paper ballot, no computers.
3. Ballots are counted with representatives of both parties present.
4. Everyone votes in person at their precinct after showing photo id and voter registration card.
5. You must register to vote 60 days before the election.
6. Absentee ballots are obtained by going in person to the agency and signing an affidavit that you will be gone from your precinct on voting day. The absentee ballot is completed and turned in immediately and in person.
These simple reforms will make it harder for ACORN and the DFL to defraud the voting public.

Don’t worry, people, Ritchie will send some AFCSME union thugs out to “fix” the voting machines. Then the DFL will win by even more.
Ugh.

The ballot scanner was on the blink here in Glencoe, MN this morning, precinct 3. We dropped our ballots in an emergency slot under the scanner. I remember thinking this will slow down the ballot counting because it will need to be done by hand. Then this afternoon, my spouse said the scanner was fixed. Now I’m wondering how my ballot will be counted, because it is mixed in with the ballots that were scanned. Will they count all of them by hand after the polls close?

Thank Heaven St Paul is using the pieces of paper and you have to fill in the ovals.

I witnessed some of what I think is described here while I was voting in Nicollet County. However, I didn’t think much of it until I saw your post here on MDE and a friend mentioned the FOX article. Because of this I have chosen to try to describe in detail everything I know about the voter machine situation in Nicollet County Ward 2, Precinct 1 whose voters are mostly students of Gustavus Adolphus College.

What is this about 700K registered voters in Hennepen and 800K ballots cast? Was that news item ever resolved?
November 3rd, 2010 at 8:46 AM
I’m an election judge, and Crystal precincts also reported jamming, including mine in W1P1. Write-in ballots were mixed in with regular ballots as well. We sorted through each ballot to make sure write-ins were reviewed before counting.
Also, one voter reported that the counter did not advance after his ballot was inserted into the machine.

Go back to pencil and paper. Any computer can be programmed to do as the programmer wishes.
