DID KEN MARTIN’S PICK FOR DFL ASSOC. CHAIR BREAK CAMPAIGN LAW?
By Ryan Lyk | December 14, 2010
Ken Martin made his candidacy for Chair of the MN DFL Party official today with a letter to activists. MDE first reported this morning on Martin’s close ties to the Alliance for a Better Minnesota and Mark Dayton’s family.
Martin even goes as far as invoking fear among the DFL that they should be mindful of the influence of money by conservatives-hilarious given his close ties to the Dayton-family-funded boondoggle known as the Alliance for a Better Minnesota. The letter reads, “The GOP and its well-funded allies will do whatever they can to stop the efforts of our Governor and President.”
Additionally, the letter reveals Martin’s choice for Associate Chair is CD3 DFL Chair, Marge Hoffa. Hoffa has had her own problems in the 3rd. Under her leadership, multiple people close to the congressional race there raised concerns about circumventing campaign finance laws. After the 3rd district DFL maxed out campaign contributions to the Meffert campaign in June, the campaign began using yard signs bearing the label “Paid for by the Third Congressional District DFL, Marge Hoffa, Chair,” in October, 4 months later. MDE reported on this possible FEC violation in October.

This is so odd. Republicans seem to believe that a Democrat who is concerned with the influence of Republican money can’t be also concerned with the influence of Democratic money. Without going into specifics, I assure you we are, and I am also pretty certain that many of my Republican friends are also concerned with the influence of money on politics.

All of this BS about “the influence of money” in politics is overblown, populist garbage.
It means nothing.
Big money ALWAYS has an influence on politics in one way or another. The part that I find offensive is the hypocrisy of liberals who proclaim that they are standing up for “the little guy.” That dead guy, Wellstone, comes immediately to mind. He always played that populist crap for all it was worth, but he raised HUGE money from rich Hollywood leftists and union pacs from every state in the country.
You would have never known those facts if you only read the local newspaper or watched the local news. The Minnesota media ignored those facts and portrayed him exactly as he wished to be portrayed. But nooooooooo, the media is not biased……they are objective…….Right.

If you’re concerned about the influence of money in politics, a few simple reforms will help.
Remove all limits on campaign contributions by individuals and corporations.
Contributions must be reported and be posted publicly within 30 days of receipt.
After each election cycle, once the campaign’s bills are paid, any remaining funds must be donated to charity. In other words, the GD crooks cannot keep their campaign warchest to fund their retirement.

The threat of Islamofascism is still real. We know that the FBI busted a wannabe Muslim terrorist in America last week. Now there is the bomber in Sweden.
And yet our own president, Ayatollah B. Hussein Obama, does not acknowledge this threat in any way. On the contrary, he heaps praise on Muslims and their “religion of peace.” You know, the religion that advocates stoning women to death for not covering their bodies. The religion that teaches its subjects that a wife is the property of her husband, equivalent to a farm animal.
Liberals across America are laying awake at night thinking of new ways to appease these fanatics and to accomodate this so-called religion.
Liberalism not only is a mental disorder. It will bring down this country if we are not careful.

It was great to see Comrade Obama abdicate the presidency the other day to Slick Willie.
Good luck getting your office back, Barry.

And just where do the NOW gang or Oprah or the hags on The View speak out on Muslim forced female castration?

“It means nothing.
“Big money ALWAYS has an influence on politics in one way or another.
In that case, how can it be nothing?
“The part that I find offensive is the hypocrisy of liberals who proclaim that they are standing up for “the little guy.””
I don’t worry about hypocrisy a lot. I worry about the money, our money and their money.
“If you’re concerned about the influence of money in politics, a few simple reforms will help.”
The Supreme Court has decided that much having to do with campaign finance is outside legislative authority. That being the case, reforms simple or otherwise are not really possible.
“Contributions must be reported and be posted publicly within 30 days of receipt.”
We have disclosure requirements like that now, as Target Corporation discovered. However, these “reforms” will come under attack both in the next legislative session and by the courts.

Scott, as dedicated left wingers, Oprah and the other liberal feminist hacks will ignore the threat that Muslims pose to women and spend even more time attacking conservative women like Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann.

We couldn’t keep this website going without the ultra lefties like Hector.

And your point is?
If you want to pat him on the back for his idiotic posts, that is up to you. Leave me out of it.
Frankly, the dude can’t follow sentence structure worth a damn and his responses are incoherent. Other than that, he is a great blogger.

Okay, people, let’s go back to this so-called tax rate compromise.
I am going to vomit if I hear one more Democrat whine about how much this is going to cost the government when not one of those b*stards give a damn about how much their spending is going to cost me and you.
I’d like to know how this “compromise” came about. Who was in the room? Most of the players are acting like they weren’t there. Or did Comrade Obama imagine the whole thing?

The Wiki-leaker is getting closer to being released on bail by the weak-kneed UK judge.
Assange is many things. First, he is an obvious flight risk. More importantly, this dirtbag is a cyber-terrorist and cyber-extortionist of the highest order. He has either stolen himself or, at the very least, aided and abetted the theft of classified government documents. He has published classified government documents. He has taken these actions in direct violation of national security laws.
He is a criminal. He needs to be locked up. Capital punishment is too good for this lowlife criminal.

Michelle Mahmoud Obama, candidate for ugliest broad in America, has gotten her wish. The Congress of Clowns has passed a bill ordering further intrusion by the federal government into what children are allowed to eat.
In praising the legislation, she literally said, “We can’t just leave it up to the parents.”
This tells you all you need to know about the mentality of totalitarian socialists like the Obamas. They think we are too stupid to feed our own kids. Give me a bloody break.

“I am going to vomit if I hear one more Democrat whine about how much this is going to cost the government when not one of those b*stards give a damn about how much their spending is going to cost me and you.”
Didn’t we just see a posting on this board talking about how Rybak stuck it to the police unions? And noting that Dayton just hired the woman who did the sticking?

Reality Check:
Marge Hoffa did not violate campaign law.
What happened is that the company CD3 ordered the signs through continually got things wrong (the disclaimer text on the sign, the billing, the order number, the design, etc…) and wound up in a convoluted situation where they sent out signs that were illegal. It was not Hoffa’s fault, it was the supply company. The signs were supposed to say one thing, and they mixed up one or two details effectively making the signs illegal.
also, interesting how most of the comments on this page are completely irrelevant to the story, if not offensive, if not downright hateful.
The DFL can make a “MN GOP Exposed” website consisting solely of comments taken from this site.

ftc08,
I always thought things that happened on the campaign was the responsibility of the candidate.
Nice to see that liberals continue blame other people for their own lack of ability.
December 18th, 2010 at 1:50 AM
Yes, because it’s Hoffa’s fault the company printed the signs wrong.
December 18th, 2010 at 12:27 PM
It is Hoffa’s fault that the signs were not reviewed and rejected. The buck stops with Hoffa.
